Realme 7 Pro Review

People often buy smartphones because they are useful in many aspects of their lives. From taking photos to sharing memories with friends, smartphones are handy for keeping up with family, getting organized at work, or playing games while commuting to work each day. Whatever your reason is for wanting a smartphone, choose one that matches your daily routine best by checking our phone reviews.

Let’s find out in our review. Read along to know more about what makes it worth your money.

Well built, pleasing design

The Realme 7 Pro is built out of Gorilla Glass 3+ plastic frame, plastic back. This helps reduce costs, but most importantly, helps it feel premium in your hands. The phone is also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. While you won’t be doing any kind of major activity with your phone inside or near water, it’s good to know that if you accidentally drop it in a puddle, pool, or lake you should be okay. And yes! Your fingerprint sensor can still work if there’s some moisture on it.

Cameras do well in daylight

The Realme 7 Pro is an extremely well-built smartphone, with no visible seams in its body, thanks to its unibody metal construction. The phone is also very pleasing to look at thanks to its glass front which almost seamlessly blends into its metal back. It has a waterdrop notch at the top of its display housing dual cameras, LED flash, an earpiece speaker, and other sensors.

Stereo speakers sound good

The new Realme phone comes with dual speakers that are powered by Dolby Atmos technology. Compared to other smartphones, it sounds exceptionally good. When you are playing games or watching videos, you can clearly hear what is happening in all directions of your phone. The sound produced by these speakers is full of bass, which makes listening to music even more enjoyable. If you use headphones with a 3.5mm audio jack, then using stereo sound will be easier for you.

Very fast charging, good battery life

The  4,500mAh battery is enough for a phone with a 6.4-inch display, but it’s also capable of fast charging with its 18W charger in just 2 hours. When we tested it under PCMark’s Work 2.0 battery benchmark, it clocked 9 hours 17 minutes (the iPhone XS Max hit 9:58), which is solid.

Performance & Gaming

The Realme 7 Pro features a 6.4-inch display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The smartphone comes with a waterdrop style notch on top which looks quite nice in my opinion. With the power of snapdragon 720G, it can handle most of the game.

Average low-light camera performance

The camera does a decent job of capturing photos in low light, but some noise is visible even in moderate lighting conditions. There is also a dual-camera setup on offer, but it uses a 12-megapixel secondary sensor instead of an ultra-wide shooter for depth effect shots. The front camera comes with a single 8-megapixel lens that produces nice selfies in well-lit conditions.

Only 60Hz display

While it has a pretty low pixel density when compared to today’s standards, the panel itself is capable of displaying 60Hz content without any problem. However, we missed the 120Hz refresh rate option in its settings menu so we assume that there is no such feature on board.

Realme 7 Pro Summary: Should You Buy?

We find it interesting, and obviously, recommend it! If you are looking for a budget phone it can be a real deal. Snapdragon 720G is strong enough for casual gaming and day-to-day tasks.

The build quality and design are great if you compared them with other budget phones.

However, it can’t go to full HD+ for its panel, so there’s only a 60Hz refresh rate instead of 90Hz. This means scrolling through your feed will look a bit more jerky than if you were using a phone with a higher-refresh screen.

So if you are looking for a phone with a 120Hz display, well... let's say you can look somewhere else. Because while most manufacturers pack their phones with high refresh rates these days, Realme had decided to do something different with its new flagship offering instead of just following suit.
